When I saw that L’Oreal had a gloss color option for semi-permanent hair dye, I flipped. I have been wanting to try a “gloss” for years now. Unfortunately, I was not happy with this particular gloss treatment.
I bought the Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color from Drugstore.com for $9.99 and used ShopAtHome for an extra 12% cash back. I’m happy with that price, but in retrospect, I think I could have found an in-store coupon to bring the price down further.
The color I selected was Chestnut Brown Spiced Truffle, a medium red-hued brown. I was very happy with the color after application.
Ease of Application:
Like most other home hair coloring solutions, the L’Oreal gloss required me to mix the processing color with the cream application. It worked the same as other hair coloring brands I’ve tried – no better, no worse. The smell was similar to other rinse applications.
I was happy with the condition of my hair after the dye. Since it’s semi-permanent, there was no bleach or ammonia. I do this because I have dry, temperamental hair.
The package included a relatively large bottle of conditioner – some to be used directly after application and some to be used once a week thereafter. This was a nice touch, since it’s almost like deep conditioning treatment.
The Big Negative:
Although I was happy with the color, conditioner, and price, I can’t recommend L’Oreal Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color for one main reason. After about a week and 3-4 washes, I took a shower over at the boyfriend’s place. I was mortified to find that my hair had stained his pristine white towel! How could that happen after a full week and several washes? That should NOT happen.
Have you ever tried L’Oreal Healthy Look Creme Gloss? Do you have any recommendations for a great gloss treatment?
