Now… onto the spotlight Q&A!
I opened up “shop” in November after receiving positive feedback on some jewelry DIYs from blogosphere gals. I only started crafting / sewing a little over a year ago and was originally inspired to make a floral statement necklace that cost $120. My version was definitely far less sophisticated but it made me interested in pursuing more DIYs and learning different techniques.
What inspires you to create?
I get inspiration everywhere! Magazines (Lucky, InStyle, etc.) and fellow bloggers are among the top sources.
I have a love for pearls! They can be both sophisticated and dramatic – what’s not to love? 🙂 I think nearly every necklace I’ve made incorporates them in some way but I’m starting to branch out with different types of beads and pendants.
What is your workroom like? What conditions lead you to create the best work?
Eek, my workroom is a mess! I’ve actually taken over the dining room table and it is chock full of beads, ribbons, and findings. Thankfully, we have a dinette to use for daily meals! My favorite DIY times are quiet weekend days (during my son’s nap time) but don’t always happen 🙂
The initial design / creation process is about 4 hours. I have a tendency to experiment around with different placements and materials for a while before I feel like it looks the way I want it to. Re-creating a design, of course, is much quicker!
What is your favorite product so far?
My current favorites are the cameo and pearl necklaces. I love the vintage, feminine feel from cameo pendants and feel like they match up so well with pearls!
Most of my items offer various customizable options like pearl or ribbon color. Also, if for any reason something were to break due to a craftsmanship issue, I am more than happy to repair or replace!
Thank you so much for the interview, Sew Petite Gal! I absolutely agree with you on vintage/feminine – it’s hard to go wrong there!
Don’t forget that code SHOPHAPPENS will get you 15% off any of these gorgeous creations in SPG’s Etsy store!
